第53回明治神宮野球大会高校野球の部の決勝戦が11月24日、神宮球場で行われた。対戦カードは昨年に引き続き、近畿地区代表の大阪桐蔭と中国地区代表の広島・広陵となった。大坂桐蔭が、最大5点差から6-5の逆転で広陵を下し、大会史上初の連覇を達成した。

初優勝を狙った広陵は、2回裏1死満塁の好機をつくり、2連続の相手内野陣のエラーと適時打を絡め3点を先制。4回裏にはプロ注目スラッガー、真鍋慧選手が今大会2本目となる高校通算49号の2ランホームランを放ち、5-0とリードした。

しかし、昨年の覇者、大阪桐蔭は5回表、山田太成選手の適時二塁打や犠牲フライなど5安打集中、5点を奪う猛攻で、一気に5-5の同点に追いついた。続く6回表、山田大成選手が2打席連続の適時打となる内野安打を放ち、6-5と勝ち越した。

大阪桐蔭の左腕エース、前田悠伍投手が6回裏からリリーフでマウンドに上がり、4回を投げて3安打無失点7奪三振の好投で、チームを勝利に導いた。

今回の優勝で大阪桐蔭は2023年選抜甲子園大会の近畿地区からの出場枠（神宮大会枠）を1つ獲得し、6チームから7チームの出場枠をもたらした。

The final game in the high school baseball category in the 53rd Meiji Jingu Baseball Tournament was held at Jingu Stadium on November 24, JST. The matchup was between Osaka Toin from Osaka, Kinki, and Koryo from Hiroshima, Chugoku, the same as last year.

Osaka Toin had a 6-5 comeback win from a 5-0 deficit over Koryo to become a back-to-back champion. The champion became the first team to win the title two years in a row in the Meiji Jingu Tournament history.

Koryo aiming for its first title, reeled off three runs on two consecutive infielder's errors and an RBI single in a bases-loaded situation with one out to put it on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Koryo's slugger Keita Manabe crushed a two-run home run, the 49th of his high school baseball career, giving his team a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The defending champion, however, made a big inning to collect five runs with five hits, including Taisei Yamada's RBI double and a sacrifice fly, tying the game at 5 in the top of the fifth inning. Taisei Yamada hit a go-ahead infield single in the following inning to make it a 6-5 game.

Osaka Toin's ace lefty, Yugo Maeda, took the mound in relief from the bottom of the sixth inning, giving up three hits and striking out seven batters in four scoreless innings to lift his team to the victory.

Osaka Toin won one more spot to participate in the 2023 Spring Koshien from the Kinki district, expanding six to seven teams.

Japan lost the first game against Korea, 0-8, in the super round of the 30th WBSC Baseball World Cup on September 16, JST. Japan, with a win-loss record of 1-2, is facing a challenging situation to advance to the finals.

Japan had a hard time at the beginning of the game. In his first start, Haruto Yamada allowed three hits and two runs. In addition, Japan gave up two more runs because third-baseman Kai Watabe dropped an infield fly ball that the Korean sixth batter, KIM Younghoo, hit with two outs and runners on first and second base.

Yamada handed the mound over to Lefty Yusefu Yoshimura, allowing two runs and hits with two wild pitches. Yamada was not at his best, giving up six runs, five hits, three walks, and a hit-by-pitch over 1 2/3 innings.

 Japan was combinedly shut out with four scattered hits by three Korean-capable pitchers, having trouble with them. Korean pitcher KIM Seohyeon, a player at the top of the whole draft of the Korean professional baseball league, got two strikeouts with a 101-mph fastball in the seventh.

Strong-hitting Korea made ten hits off four pitchers of Japan, having eight runs. 

After the game, Japan's manager Shiro Mabuchi said, "Game result is my responsibility. There was an error. It was a tough situation four runs behind for Japan from the beginning of the game because Korean pitchers were excellent." On the other hand, Mabuchi showed enthusiasm, "I want to pursue the possibility of advancing to the finals if we win a game vs. the USA."

Japan is in a hard situation for the finals. There is a slite chance that Japan will be a finalist depending on the Total Quality Balance if it successively wins the games against the Netherlands and the USA with its win-loss record of 3-2. Japan can not lose anymore.

U１８日本代表は、日本時間９月１１日午前８時から、フロリダで開催のベースボールワールドカップオープニングランドBグループ・メキシコ戦（レコンパーク）を戦いを４−１で勝利し前日のイタリア戦に続き２連勝とした。

　この日も初回に先制した。１回二死から３番の松尾が右前安打で出塁すると、すかさず２塁へ盗塁を敢行。相手捕手の送球がセンターへ逸れる間に３塁を陥れた。４番の内海が四球を選び、１、３塁から５番海老根の三塁への適時内野安打で松尾が生還し１点を先制。続く６番黒田の四球で満塁とし、７番伊藤が中前適時打を放ち、さらに２点を追加した。５回には先頭の浅野がメキシコ２番手左腕・ティラドから左翼スタンドへソロ本塁打を打ち４−０とした。
　日本の先発、左腕の香西は５四死球と制球に苦労する場面があったものの要所を締め４回を無失点。５回から救援した右腕の宮原が３回６奪三振１失点でまとめた。

　日本は２連勝となり、明日（日本時間９月１２日８時から）はエド・スミススタジアムでパナマと対戦する。

 　U１８日本代表は、９月１０日日本時間未明、フロリダで開催のベースボールワールドカップオープニングラウンドBグループでイタリアを６−０で下し初戦を飾った。試合開始は日本時間午前４時と予定されていたが雨天のため、１時間遅れてスタート。５回終了後にも中断となるなど、コンディション維持が難しい状況となったが、序盤で６点を奪い、終始有利に試合を進めた。

　初回、１番の浅野がレフトへの２塁打で出塁し、２番赤堀が犠打を決め、一死三塁として、３番の松尾の犠牲フライで幸先よく１点を先制。２回には、７番伊藤のレフト前ヒットを足がかりに５安打、３四球に相手投手の２暴投もあり一挙５点を挙げて序盤で６−０として早々と試合を決めた。３回以降は無得点に終わったが、打線は浅野の２安打を含む１０安打を放った。先発投手の右腕・生盛は３回２安打無失点、４回から３イニングスを川原が１安打無失点、最終回の７回を野田が１安打無失点と継投でイタリアを完封した。

　明日は、日本時間８時（現地時間１０日１９時）からメキシコと対戦する。
