And one more thing, the 2022 Japan Series opened at Jingu Stadium, and defending champion, the Swallows, took the opener over the Buffaloes 4-2. Shogo Asano, high school slugger of Takamatsu Shogyo with home run No.68, was drafted first by the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers. As a result of the lottery, the Giants won the negotiating rights to him.
Also, the Hokkaido Nipponham Fighters selected Gosuke Kato with a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets in the third draft round. Kato is 28 and made his big league debut with the Toronto Blue Jays to have his first career hit this April.
