Daiki Kohara, who used to be a teammate of SHOHEI OHTANI in Hanamaki Higashi high school, tries Minor League Baseball in America, Sport Nippon reported yesterday. He will take a test of Several Major League clubs next February.
The 25-year-old, left hander, played for Nippon Paper Industries Baseball team and Keio University after graduation from the high school. He is now training in Tokyo. He plans on retiring from the Nippon Paper Industries at the end of this month and is going to train with Mariners’ Lefty, Yusei Kikuchi, who is his senior from the high school, in the United Stats at the beginning of next year.
Kohara said, “I thought that I have to draugr the line to make my dream of becoming a professional baseball player come true at the third year since starting work. I want to win a contract of Minor League. I’ll do my best.”
Shohei Ohtani supportably advised him, “You should carry your style. I want you to feel the slippery ball of Major League. You will will stand you in good stead in the future if dealing with that through trial and error.
Kohara has changed a sidearm pitch from an overland throw since this spring to improve his skill. His challenge has just started.
