  The Mariners avoided a three game series sweep by shutout relievers and Haniger’s aggressiveness. 
 In the first inning, after two outs, the Mariners had four consecutive singles driving two runs for a game-tying and go-ahead. In the eighth with a 2-2 tie, Mitch Haniger walked, stole second base and went to third by Jean Segura’s sacrifice bunt. The next hitter, Robinson Cano hit a ground ball to shortstop, which made a fielder’s choice by which Mitch Haniger picked off a game-deciding run with his aggressively headfirst sliding, avoiding a tag of Yankees catcher, Austin Romine. 
 Also, Haniger made the game end with getting a final out of a tremendous diving-catch. 
 Seattle still remains 7.5 games back to the American League second wild card spot.
