The Yankees held off the Mariners, 4-2. In the seventh, Austin Romine, #28, hit a tie-braking, solo homer(his 10th of the season) off Nick Vincent, put the Yankees back in front. In the ninth, Gleyber Torres, #25,  hit a sacrifice fly to right field to secure a win. 
By the victory, Yankees moved within 7.5 games behind the Red Sox, the first position in the American League East and maintained 3.5 games in front of the Athletics for the AL top wild card zone. 
 The Mariners still have a batting issue. The number of their hits to combine the game 1 and 2 is only 7. They struggled to take tight games in the late season important for the wild card. Seattle dropped 7.5 games behind Oakland for the AL second wild card race. 
Seattle eagerly wants to win this game with Felix’s victory, but they couldn’t do it with the injury. With twenty remaining games, they are seeking the second wild card, for which they have to avoid a three-game series sweep.
