Padres rookie, RHP, Nix beat Mariners keeping a tough battle for a wild card.
The 22-year-old rookie, Jacob Nix,#63, allowed one run and eight hits, walked none and struck out none, got his third victory.
Luis Urias,#9, made his MLB debut and showed a fine play as a second baseman.

Seattle fell to seven games back behind Houston with the 1st and five and a half games behind Oakland for the second Wild Card spot. It’s a crunch time to the Mariners to have the AL Wild card.

• Felix Hernandez had a quality start and gave up just 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 ERs and 2 BBs including 1 HR with 9 SOs over seven frames.
• Shawn Armstrong with his first appearance of the season, had a scoreless inning.

• Mariners’ bullpen allowed 5 hits including 1 HR with 2 runs, 2 ERs, 2 BBs, and 9 SOs.

• Nelson Cruz hit his 32nd homer on a fly ball to center, 1-2.

Also,

• Seattle produced 8 hits and Jean Segura, Mike Zunino, and Dee Gordon had two hits respectively. But, the offense could not support Felix Hernandez because of Nix’s brilliant pitching.
