9/1/2022 0 Comments To look back on IchiroadCover page; Ichiro Suzuki was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame on August 27. Congratulations, Ichiro! Today's topic is about looking back on Ichiro’s story, Ichiroad. Slide 1; The title of my Web site is KAISPO Baseball Innovation. I named it from his playing style. He is an innovator of baseball. First of all, Ichiro was not have a good physique as a major leaguer. He was skinny. But, he triumphed over many critics. Born and high school; Ichiro appeared at Summer Koshien and Spring Koshien when he was a high school player. The two Koshiens are kinds of national tournaments in Japanese high school baseball. If you don't know about the Japanese high school baseball system, you can look at another movie whose title is “what is Japanese high school baseball.” youtu.be/52HaL-5OA88 NPB; Ichiro started his professional career with the Orix Blue Wave in NPB in Japan. He was not the No.1 draft pick but the No.4. Katsutoshi Miwada, the scout who recommended getting Ichiro, should be given a Nobel prize. However, unfortunately, Miwada has already passed away. Ichiro Suzuki was the leading hitter for seven consecutive years in the Pacific League, NPB. Ichiro's historical records are too many to tell all here. MLB; Ichiro became the first Japan-born Major Leaguer as a field player with the Seattle Mariners in 2000. Ichiro won many titles and left MLB records, including American League MVP, the Rookie of the Year, leading hitter, Gold Glove, All-star MVP, and so on. Significantly, the 10th straight 200-hit season was one of the most outstanding achievements in MLB. Also, he broke George Sisler's single-season record with 262 hits for the first time in 84 years in 2004. Ichiro's historical records are too many to tell all here as well. WBC; He contributed to two consecutive WBC victories of Japan. Slide 2; This graph shows the hitting record of Ichiro. Ichiro played for seven years in NPB, Japan, and 19 years in MLB, America. Here, he won the batting champion seven years in a row. Here, he achieved ten consecutive 200-hit seasons. It’s an MLB record. Here, he had the most significant number of hits, 262. It‘s an MLB record. Ichiro got 1,278 hits with a .353(three fifty-three) batting average in NPB, Japan. Also, he had 3,809 hits, the 24th most in MLB history, with a .311(three-eleven) batting average. Finally, Ichiro had a combined total of 4,367 hits in his professional career in the U.S. and Japan. The number of hits should be the world record. Incredible. Slide 3; This movie that I shot is about Ichiro's History. I shot it at Tokyo Dome when Ichiro Suzuki came to Japan for the opening series with the Mariners vs. the Athletics in 2019. First scene; That is his first career hit in the big league. Second scene; His throwing like a laser beam had a substantial impact on Major League. Third scene; Ichiro made a fantastic catch, climbing a fence. Amazing!! Fourth scene; That is the memorable moment Ichiro hit No.258 to break the single-season hit record of George Sisler. The record may be unbreakable. He shook hands with an 81-year-old daughter of Sisler. Fifth scene; That is when Ichiro reached home, avoiding a tag like a ninja. Sixth scene; That is when he recorded his No.3,000 Major League career hit. I remember that he sat on a bench and seemed to shed tears after the game. Ichiro retired from professional baseball after the 2019 opening series at Tokyo Dome. Now the legend is a special assistant to the chairman of the Mariners organization. He often teaches young Mariners players while practicing his batting, even now in Seattle. Also, Ichiro sometimes coaches baseball for amateur teams like high school teams in Japan. (Ichiroad No.473 / KAISPO No.1202) Ichiro Suzuki became the 10th player of the Seattle Mariners' Hall of Fame, giving his 16-minutes speech in English at T-Mobile Park on August 27 local time. In front of about 45,000 Seattle fans in the stadium, the superstar wearing a dark blue suit expressed his grateful feelings, causing laughter and impression. The fans repeatedly gave the historical player a big hand, and Ichiro chant in the middle of his speech. Former teammates Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, Jamie Moyer, Jay Buhner, and Dan Wilson, who had previously been honored by the Mariners, attended the ceremony that included video messages from Randy Johnson, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Albert Pujols, and Daisuke Matsuzaka. The 48-year-old star will be eligible for induction into Cooperstown in 2025. Some of Ichiro Suzuki's speeches below; “What’s up, Seattle” “Twenty-two years ago, my life forever changed when I became a Seattle Mariner. I am beyond grateful to this organization and this city.” “I am touched by the warm support of so many Mariner Hall of Famers who made time to be here tonight … I am honored to join this new Mariners team. Thank you all for being here to welcome me in person.” “Baseball will forever be my soul, and my mission is to keep helping both players and fans appreciate this special game.” “I want our players to know I am with you in your fight to be the best. I was 27 years old when I came to Seattle. I could never imagine my career in America would last 19 seasons and that I would still be in Seattle today." “Lou kissed me right here on the cheek,” “The manager gave me a big wet kiss. That doesn't happen in Japan. I was shocked. Honestly, I was scared. I thought to myself if this is customary in America, I might not make it here. Remember, we won 116 games that year. I wasn't ready for 116 kisses from the manager.” “Your future has possibilities that you cannot imagine as well. So embrace it by giving your best without imposing a limit on yourself. If a skinny, undersized guy from Japan can compete in this uniform and stand before you tonight to accept this honor, then there’s no reason you cannot do it either.” “When I returned in 2018, it was as if I had never left. The passion with which you welcomed me back touched my heart. It is one of the best memories of my career, and I will never forget that feeling.” “It is my greatest honor to have played for you as a Seattle Mariner. I will keep doing my best for you and the Mariners.” Mariners Hall of Fame Members; Alvin Davis 1984-1991 / first baseman / Inducted in 1997 Dave Niehaus 1977-2010 / Announcer / Inducted in 2000 Jay Buhner 1988-2001 / Outfielder / Inducted in 2004 Edgar Martinez 1987-2004 / Third baseman, DH / Inducted in 2007 Randy Johson 1989-1998 / Light-handed pitcher / Inducted in 2012 Dan Wilson 1994-2005 / Catcher / Inducted in 2012 Ken Griffey, Jr 1989-1999, 2009-2010 / Outfielder / Inducted in 2013 Lou Piniella 1993-2002 / Manager / Inducted in 2014 Jamie Moyer 1996-2006 / Light-handed pitcher / Inducted in 2015 Ichiro Suzuki 2001-2012, 2018-2019 / Outfielder / Inducted in 2022 (Ichiroad No.472 / KAISPO No.1201) 4/17/2022 0 Comments How greatly Ichiro Suzuki playedMLB legend Ichiro Suzuki threw the ceremonial first pitch for the Seattle Mariners' opening day at T-mobile park before the game against the Houston Astros. One of the names is Ichiro Suzuki, who will be eligible to be voted in 2025 and is being introduced with comments and a short movie. The original comments about Ichiro is below; “Suzuki’s Japanese origin is perhaps the only -- and an unfortunate -- reason why someone wouldn’t check the box next to one of the most complete superstars of the 21st century. Despite beginning his American baseball career as a 27-year-old rookie, Ichiro still ranks among the Major Leagues’ top 100 players all-time in hits (24th), plate appearances (48th), stolen bases (35th), runs (90th) and total bases (93rd) -- and then there are his 10 Gold Glove Awards in the outfield. And those statistics don’t include Ichiro’s immense cultural impact. Beginning with his historic AL Rookie of the Year and MVP season in 2001 and continuing through his emotional goodbye in Tokyo last spring, he proved how Japanese position players can succeed on American soil. Regardless of whether one believes that Ichiro’s NPB’s statistics should count toward his legacy, there’s really no logical argument against his inclusion on each and every one of the ballots cast in 2025.” In addition to those records, there are his 10th Straight 200-Hit season (2001-2010), 10-time All-Star Game nomination (2001-2010), most hits, season:262 (242) and so on. He had too many titles and records to count. Current young players are generations, who watched Ichiro on TV in their childhood. When I was a child, I could not imagine that American baseball boys admire a Japanese baseball player. Ichiro left not only the records and titles, but also an attitude to work hard on baseball. I am looking forward to Cooperstown for him. 次の確実な殿堂入り候補はイチロー氏 MLB .comが次にアメリカ殿堂入りする可能性が高い人物のリストを発表している。その中に2025年に資格を得るイチロー氏も単独の映像とともに紹介されている。 以下、イチロー氏に関する論評だ。 「日本人の鈴木氏は21世紀の最も完璧なスーパースターの一人で、投票しない理由はない。27歳でメジャーキャリアをスタートさせたにも関わらず、(多くの記録が)メジャーリーグ史上、トップ100にいまだにランクされている。例えば、24位の安打数、48位の打席数、35位の盗塁数、90位の得点数、94位のトータルベースなどだ。そして、外野手としてゴールドグラブ賞を10度獲得している。 これらの記録には彼の素晴らしい文化的なインパクトは含まれていない。2001年の新人賞、MVPから始まり、昨年の東京での心を打つ引退セレモニーまで、彼は、日本人野手がどのようにアメリカで成功を為し得るかを証明した。日本での記録が彼の実績にカウントすべきかどうかに関わらず、2025年に皆が殿堂入りに投票するのに反論の余地はない。」 上記の記録に加え、10年連続200安打、10回のオールスター選出、2004年の年間最多安打(262安打)など、彼のタイトルや記録は数え上げればキリがないほどだ。今の若いメジャーリーガーはイチロー選手をテレビで観ていた世代だ。私の少年時代はアメリカの野球少年が日本人野球選手に憧れる状況を想像できなかった。記録だけではなく、いろいろな功績を残したイチロー選手。殿堂入りの姿を楽しみにしたい。 ⚾️ KAISPO❗️;

The Original texts follows.: “Ichiro's 262 hits in 2004 Few players have thrilled fans in as many different ways as Ichiro, and that included his impeccable bat control and timing at the plate. Breaking Ichiro's single-season hit mark would require an uncommon combination of consistency, opportunities and the ability to make contact -- an increasing rarity in the modern game. Plus, Ichiro logged 704 at-bats in that magical 2004 season, one of only four players to cross the 700 at-bat plateau in a single campaign. So to break this record, you'd have to hit .373 and log more than 700 ABs. Good luck.” Also, I’d like to express my respect to not only, Ichiro, but also, George Sisler, a former record holder when introducing the record. By HIDE イチローの偉大な記録、262安打 MLB.comのマット・ケリー記者は、1月1日に、「破られないであろうMLBの記録」と題して、いくつかの大記録を紹介している。その一つが、イチロー選手が2004年に記録した年間262安打だ。以下、その原文の日本語訳を紹介する。 ”2004年に記録されたイチローの262安打; イチローと同じような方法でファンを魅了した選手はほとんどいない。それはつまり、打席での絶妙なバントコントロール、タイミングの取り方である。イチローの1シーズンの最多安打記録を破ることは、類まれな一貫性、機会そしてコンタクトする能力というコンビネーションが求められる。現代の試合において、そういったケースはますます難しくなっている。それに加え、イチローは、その記念すべき2004年のシーズンで704打数を記録したが、1シーズンで700台の打数に登った選手はたった4人しかおらず、イチローはその一人だ。だからこの記録(年間262安打)を破るためには、打率.373で700以上の打数に到達する必要がある。幸運を祈る。” また私は、この記録を紹介する時には、イチローだけではなく前の記録保持者のジョージ・シスラーにも敬意を表したい。 By HIDE ⚾️ KAISPO❗️;

About the 2000s, their offensive power, including Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols, could be better than the 2010s, plus their defense of the outfield with Carlos Beltran and Ichiro Suzuki would be very solid. Randy Jonson and Pedro Martinez were notable as starters, but they passed their peak. On the other hand, the 2010s team has three exceptional starting pitchers such as Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer whose pitching has an edge over the 2000s. As a result, the ESPN made a judgment that the winner was the 2010s. I think the series of articles like this are very fun and meaningful in looking back on the Major League history.
