期待の星、根尾昂選手が２本の三塁打

The Chunichi Dragons infielder, Akira Neo, hit two triples in two consecutive at-bats in a practice match against the Hiroshima Toyo Carp at Chatan, Okinawa on February 15, Sunday JST. 

The 19-year-old participated in the match in the five as a shortstop and he tripled on a fry ball to the right-center field off Kuri in the six. He also hit a triple on a fly ball to left field off Kemuna with an RBI. 

Neo looked back at his first at-bat, “Opponent’s pitchers won’t use caution of me if I don’t try to swing very strongly.” About his second at-bat, “It was good because I understood the wind direction.”

But he failed to catch a fly ball behind shortstop and then made a throwing error to second base by which the hitter ran to second. He reflected on himself, “I needed to be down the wind. Something like that play will make in a bad mood.”

The hopeful player graduated from the Osaka Toin High school with a distinguished record in baseball in which he played as a shortstop and pitcher and won summer and spring Koshien tournaments in the same year. He was the Dragon’s first-round draft pick in 2018. He is very popular. 

Neo started late for an injury last season. Therefore, he was with a farm team almost full last-season. He is keeping a good condition with a five-game hitting streak in practice games to get a roster and regular in an opening game.

期待の星、根尾昂選手が２本の三塁打

中日ドラゴンズ期待の若手、根尾昂内野手が、沖縄県・北谷で行われた広島との練習試合で、途中出場し、二打席連続の三塁打を放った。

根尾内野手は５回の守備から試合に出場。６回に回ってきた初打席で、九里から右中間を超える三塁打。８回には１死１塁の場面で、ケムナの直球をレフトオーバーの豪快な三塁打を放ち、打点１も記録した。

今日の第一打席を振り返り、根尾選手は、「振らないと相手も怖がらない。しっかり振ることが自分のスタイルなので」とコメント。第二打席については、「風を頭に入れていたのでよかった」と答えた。

しかし、６回の守備ではショート後方のフライを落球し、そのあとの２塁への送球も悪送球となり、打者の２塁への進塁を許す場面もあった。「もっと風下に入ればよかった。あんなプレーをしていたら流れを悪くしてしまう」と反省した。

根尾選手は、昨年、ドラフト１位で入団した走攻守三拍子揃った左打者。高校時代は名門の大阪桐蔭高校で、甲子園春夏連覇に貢献した人気選手だ。

昨シーズンは怪我で出遅れ、ほぼ二軍生活が続いたが、今季は開幕一軍そしてレギュラー奪取に向けて、実戦では５試合連続安打と好調を維持している。
