The seventh batter Kaito Ito singled to the center fielder to add two runs with the bases loaded after the sixth batter Yoshinobu Kuroda, walked.
Japanese slugger Shogo Asano shot a solo homer into the left-field stands in the fifth to give his team the fourth run.
Japanese lefty Kazuki Kozai started the game and allowed only one hit and 0 runs in four frames, although he gave up four walks. Haruya Miyahara, who relieved Kozai, gave up one run, having six strikeouts in three innings.
