U18-W-cup: Japan earns a sweeping win vs. Australia

Japan had a match against Australia at Lecom Park in group B of the opening round of the 30th WBSC Baseball World Cup on September 13, JST, in Florida, the U.S. The game between Japan and Australia was called in the bottom of the fifth inning with a score of 10-0. 


Japanese lead-off man Shogo Asano, who has batted well, got on board with a single to left field in the first. He reached the third base from the first base when the second batter Yoshinobu Kuroda had a sacrifice bunt, and the Australian pitcher and catcher took time to get a batter out. The third batter Shion Matsuo singled to center field to score Shogo Asano. Then, Japan added two runs with three walks and a passed ball.

Japan went on the rampage, going through their batting order and earning seven runs with three hits and an error in the second. Shion Matsuo doubled, Yuta Utsumi singled, and Kai Watabe had his first hit in the tournament. 

Ayuta Seimori, who took the mound in the first game against Italy, got a start and had no runs, two hits, and two strikeouts, using a sharp slider in two frames. Left-handed sidearmer Yusefu Yoshimura made his first appearance, retiring three batters in a row, including two strikeouts in the third inning. Righty Shiki Kawahara pitched two shutout innings with two strikeouts. 

Japan won its fourth straight victory from the opening game and booked a spot in the super round before the last game in the opening round. Japan will have a game against Taiwan on a four-game winning streak as well as Japan at 8 am on September 13, JST / at 7 pm on September 12, EST.

Group B: Chinese Taipei 4-0 Mexico, Panama 10-0 Italy

日本、オーストラリアに快勝

U１８日本代表は、日本時間９月１３日午前、フロリダで開催のベースボールワールドカップオープニングランドBグループ・オーストラリア戦（レコンパーク）を戦い１０−０で５回コールドの快勝。開幕４連勝し、スーパーラウンド進出を決めた。雨天のため、試合開始が遅れたものの好調さをキープした。

　日本は初回、打撃好調の浅野が左前安打で出塁すると、２番黒田の犠打処理を相手投手と捕手が手間取っている間に一気に三塁を陥れた。続く３番松尾の中前適時打で生還し１点を先制。その後、３四球で好機を広げ、相手バッテリーのパスボール等で２点を追加し３−０とした。

　勢いに乗る日本は２回も松尾の２塁打、内海、渡部の安打に相手失策も絡み打者一巡の攻撃で７点をとるビッグイニングで１０−０と早々と試合を決めた。

　投手陣は第１戦のイタリア戦以来の登板となった生盛が先発しスライダーが冴え２回２安打４奪三振。３回は左サイドハンドの吉村優聖歩が今大会初登板し、２三振を奪い三者凡退の好投。４回から２イニングスを２安打２三振で完封リレーした。

　日本は開幕から４連勝となり、台湾戦を残し、スーパーラウンド進出を決めた。明日（日本時間１４日８時／現地時間１３日１９時エド・スミススタジアム）は、同じく４連勝の台湾とオープニングラウンド１位通過をかけて戦う。
