2023 WBC: Star Player VOL.3: Mike Trout, Captain of the USA

Today's player is the Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout, who will be a captain of the USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The Angels selected Mike Trout in the first round with the 25th overall in the 2009 MLB draft. Trout made his big league debut at only nineteen years old in 2011 and amazingly hit .326 with 30 home runs to win the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year, leading the AL with 49 stolen bases as a rookie in 2012. He became the youngest player with more than thirty homers and stolen bases in Major League history.

The 31-year-old  slugger has shown a remarkable performance since his debut to impressively receive the AL MVP three times, Hank Aaron Award twice, and Silver Slugger Award eight times.

Trout marked higher than 1,000 OPS in three consecutive seasons since 2017.

This season he homered in his seventh straight game from September 4 to 12 to set an Angels franchise record.

The superstar finished this season with a .283 batting average, 40 homers following Aaron Judge(62) in the AL, and 80 RBIs in 119 games, although he missed longer than a month during the summer due to a back injury.

The ten-time All-Star with two-time All-Star MVP winner has already recorded 350 home runs and 200 stolen bases.

Mike Trout will weld the USA of many Major League stars as a captain in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
