Jeremy Pena was initially selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 39th round of the 2015 MLB draft, but he entered the University of Maine. He was again drafted by the Houston Astros with the 102nd overall selection in the 3rd round of the 2018 MLB draft and signed that time.

In 2019, the young infielder stood out in the Astros' A and A+ affiliates, batting .303/.385/.440 with seven home runs and 53 RBIs across 109 games. He joined the Astros' opening roster for the 2022 season since Houston failed to re-sign a star shortstop, Carlos Correa, who moved to the Minnesota Twins.

The 25-year-old right-handed hitter made his big league debut in an opening game against the Los Angeles Angels on April 7, 2022. Pena started the game as a shortstop and batting seventh, going 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. "Altuve would be the greatest treasure in MLB, with top-level skills in hitting, defense, running, and everything else necessary for a baseball player. He is a slugger who can hit a long ball with a bullet liner and a high batting average, handling the head part of the bat effectively.

His average in his 12 big league seasons has been over .300 with three-time batting champion, four-time 200-hit season, five-time 20-homer season, two-time 30-homer season, 6th straight 30-stolen base season. He also makes a fielding gem but sticks to the basics.

Altuve was named the 2017 AL MVP and helped the Astros win their first World Champ. The slugger is still 32. One of the best blessings is to see the great player still."

Because Jose Altuve was short(5' 6''), it is said that the Astros initially didn't intend to contract with him. But they finally signed him in 2006, considering his skill.

Altuve was called up by the Astros to the major league for the first time on July 19, 2011, and debuted against the Washington Nationals at Minute Maid park the following day. He started the game as a second baseman and batting second, going 1 for 4 with the first career hit(single to the right) off right-hander Tyler Clippard. On August 20 against the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the first, Altuve, as a lead-off hitter, hit an inside-the-park home run on a fly ball to left-center field for the first of his career facing lefty Madison Bumgarner. Jose finished his first season with .276, two long balls, and 12 RBIs in 57 contests. 

Since his debut season, the great infielder has led the Astros as an absolute second baseman. On offense, the right-handed slugger has batted over.300 seven times, including his career-high .346 in 2017 and winning a batting champion three times. Altuve hit double-digit home runs seven times, recording No.31 in 2019 and 2021. Additionally, he stole 30+ bases for six consecutive years since 2012, with his career-most 56 in 2014, and led the American League in stolen bases in 2014 and 2015. Although he has experience as a starter in the minor league, he has pitched all his major games as a reliever or closer. The 40 straight scoreless appearances he made in 2018-2019 is a major league record. As long as Houston has Pressly, a ninth-inning comeback will be a fleeting dream for its opponents."

Ryan Pressly was drafted by the Boston Red Sox with the 354th overall pick in the 11th round of the 2007 MLB and was picked by the Minnesota Twins with the 4th pick of the 2012 Rule V Draft.

The right-hander made his big league debut with the Twins on April 4th, 2013, facing the Detroit Tigers. He tossed the ninth inning, allowing a hit, no runs, and striking out one. On May 8th, he picked up his first career win, pitching four scoreless innings as a second pitcher, giving up two hits, no runs, and striking out three batters in the Twins' 15-8 victory over the Boston Red Sox. He finished his first year with 3-3, a 3.87 ERA in 49 relief appearances. He had 3-2 with a 2.93 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 27 reliefs covering 27.2 frames in 2015.

The 34-year-old reliever was traded by the Twins to the Houston Astros on July 27th, 2018.

Pressly marked a 40-game scoreless streak from August 15th, 2018, to May 24th, 2019, to set a new all-time Major League record, passing Craig Kimbrel's line of 38 scoreless games between June 14th and September 8th, 2011. He was named his first All-Star in 2019. In 2022, Pressly earned his career-high 33 saves over 50 contests in the regular season and picked up six saves across ten games in the postseason to help the Astros win their second World Series title. His strength is a well-breaking curveball whose batting average was .146, much lower than the MLB average. The swinging back of his left arm in his pitching form is minimal. So, he can throw with the same form with all kinds of his pitches. Batters will be hard to hit against such types of pitchers.

Verlander, one of the greatest pitchers in MLB, moved to the Mets. So, Valdez is the Key pitcher to aim at back-to-back World Series Title for the Astros."

Valdez signed the Houston Astros to a minor-league contract on March 19th, 2015. He made his big league debut against the Seattle Mariners on August 21st, 2018, tossing 4 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run, and striking out four to pick up his first career win. He was 4-1 with a 2.19 ERA in eight games with five starts in his rookie year.

In 2021, the 28-year-old left-hander went 11-6 with a 3.14 ERA over 22 starts, including his first complete game, although he missed about a month because of a fractured left ring finger during a spring training game.

In 2022, Valdez had a brilliant season. He earned his first win of the season, starting the Astros' opening game against the Los Angeles Angels. He got his career-high 13 strikeouts against the Angels, pitching six frames at Minute Maid Park on July 3rd. Valdez led the American League in innings pitched with 201.1, striking out 194 in the season. He had 17 wins(2nd most in the league), six losses with a 2.82 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and an MLB-best 26 quality starts across 31, including three complete games and an MLB-record 25 straight quality starts from April 25th to September 18th.

Today's player's resume concerns the Houston Astros' starting pitcher, Jose Urquidy. He is from Mexico and intents to play for Team Mexico in the following spring's World Baseball Classic.


Urquidy had a contract with the Astros as an international free agent in 2015 and debuted in a big-league game against the Colorado Rockies as a starter on July 2nd, 2019.


In 2020, the shortened season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the right-handed pitcher started five games and went 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA, striking out 17 batters through 29.3 frames.


In 2021, the 27-year-old pitcher was 8-3 with a 3.62 ERA in his 20 starts covering 107.0 innings, fanning 90.


In 2022, Urquidy tossed in 29 contests with 164.1 innings and marked 13-8 with a 3.94, getting 134 strikeouts. A day after the Astros' three pitchers combined no-hitter against the New York Yankees, he pitched 6 1/3 hitless innings until the Yanks' slugger Giancarlo Stanton's homer on June 25th, by which the Yankees' hitless drought ended at 16 1/3 innings.
