Trea Turner was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the 13th pick in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft. The Padres traded Turner to the Washington Nationals for a three-team trade in December.

The 29-year player made his big league debut in 2015 and batted.342 with 33 stolen bases and an OPS of .937, finishing second in the National League(NL) Rookie of the Year vote.

Since then, the two-time All-Star has played a key role as a central player on the Nationals. He first led the league in stolen bases in 2018 and contributed to the Nationals' first World Series title in 2019.

In 2020, the shortened season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the right-handed hitter had a high performance with an OPS of .982 and the most hits of 78  in the NL.

In the middle of 2020, Turner was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and became the NL batting champion with .328 and hit 195 to be his second hit leader.

今日は今年、3度目のアメリカンリーグ(AL)のサイ・ヤング賞を受賞したジャスティン・バーランダー投手を紹介する。

Today's player is the 2022 American League(AL) Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander. He splendidly won his third Cy Young this year.

The Detroit Tigers selected Justin Verlander as the second overall selection in the first round of the 2004 MLB draft. Verlander made his big league debut in 2005.

Verlander earned 17 wins and 124 strikeouts to receive the AL Rookie of the Year in 2006. He has grown since then to be one of the greatest pitchers in the Major League.

In 2011 when 9-time All-Star threw his second career no-hitter, he marked 24-5 with a 2.40 ERA and 250 strikeouts, getting the pitching Triple Crown to lead the league in wins, ERA, and strikeouts, taking his first AL Cy Young unanimously.

Detroit sent Verlander to Houston for three prospects in the middle of the 2017 season. The 2011 MVP played a vital role in winning four games with a 2.40 ERA in six games in the 2017 postseason, lifting Houston to its first World Series title.

In 2019, his 36-year-old season, the historic righty started 34 games and threw 223 innings to be the AL-winningest pitcher with 21 victories, capturing his third Cy Young Award.

The 39-year-old pitcher notched 18-4 with an impressive 1.75 ERA and 0.83 WHIP over 175 frames this season, earning the third Cy Young Award of his career.

Today's player is the Miami Marlins' pitcher Sandy Alcantara, now the 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner.


In 2013, St.Louis acquired Alcantara from the Dominican Republic as an international free agent before he joined Miami 2017 off-season for a trade. The 27-year-old righty made his Major League debut in 2017.


Alcantara appeared in 32 games and brilliantly finished the 2022 season with 14-9, a 2.28 ERA, and 207 strikeouts across 228 2/3 innings, the most in MLB. Also, he led the big league in complete games with six, including a shutout.


The two-time All-Star was named the NL Cy Young winner with a unanimous vote for the first time in his career.

The Seattle Mariners acquired Julio Rodriguez as an international free agent in 2017 and had a sixteen-year contract with him.

The hopeful outfielder showed an excellent performance with a batting average of .412, three home runs, 8 RBIs, three stolen bases, and an OPS of .854 in 14 preseason matches to be a player eligible for Seattle's season-opening roster.


The 21-year-old new face dominated throughout this season as a regular center fielder. He marked .284, 28 homers, 75 RBIs, 25 stolen bases, and an OPS of .854, leading all rookies in home runs, OPS, Total Bases(260), and SLG(.509) and winning his first career Silver Slugger with Mike Trout and Aaron Judge in the outfielder's category.


J-Rod became the second rookie with 25+ home runs, 25+ stolen bases, and an OPS of .800+ in the same season in big league history, following Mike Trout to do so in his second rookie year and the first rookie to do so in his first season.


The Mariners' young leadoff man was selected to the 2022 All-Star roster and took part in the Home Run Derby, placing second with 81 shots.

J-Rod is the fifth Seattle player to receive the Rookie of the Year after Alvin Davis(1894), Kazuhiro Sasaki(2000), Ichiro Suzuki(2001), and Kyle Lewis(2020).
