Jean Segura signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2007 and recorded a high batting average at each level in the minors before his MLB debut on July 24, 2012. In 2014, the Brewers placed him on bereavement on July 12 because of the sudden death of his nine-month-old son Janniel in his own country. Segura returned to the team on July 17.
