"Freeland is one of the Rockies' leading starters. For the first three seasons after his debut, most of his pitches were a four-seamer and slider, but since 2020 he has delivered five arsenals relatively balanced. What is worrisome is that his overall ERA is over 4.00. Sharpness, control, and breaking the timing can be critical points for him, as he doesn't have a strong fastball. With expanding movements of his breaking balls and offspeed ball to break the batters' timing, his ERA will improve. So, Freeland is a pitcher with high potential."

■Story
Kyle Freeland was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB draft. But he did not sign and choose to enter the University of Evansville. Three years later, the Rockies selected him with the 8th overall selection in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft, and he entered the professional field this time.

The lefty debuted as Colorado's home opening day starter on April 7, 2017. He pitched solid six innings on four hits and an earned run, striking out six. Freeland secured the Rockies' 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers to gain his first career win. Also, he had his first career hit in the game. He concludes his first season with 11-11, a 4.10 ERA, and 107 strikeouts in 136 innings across 33 games, including 28 starts.

2018 was his break-out season. The left-hander tossed 202 1/3 frames over 33 starts, picking up the National League(NL) fourth most 17 wins(7 losses) with the NL fifth-best 2.85 ERA to send his team to the postseason. The 2.85 ERA was the best for a Rockies starter since Marvin Freeman recorded a 2.80 ERA in 112 frames in the strike-shortened season of 1994. In addition, Freeland became a Rockies starter with the best ERA in franchise history to pitch at least 162 innings to qualify for the ERA title.

Since then, the 29-year-old has yet to mark the record like the 2019 campaign. But Freeland is an essential piece of the Rockies that has been rebuilding.

"Lynn is a veteran starting pitcher with 123 wins in the majors. He has recorded double-digit victories in eight of his 12 seasons, including a career-high 18 wins in 2012. He paints the strike zone's edges with a slight sidearm, handling six pitches skillfully: cutter, slider, curveball, sinker, and changeup. The righty started the 2022 season in June due to surgery to repair a torn tendon in his knee, by which he won only eight games. But from 2023 onward, Lynn will stably be able to collect wins."

Lance Lynn was drafted by the St.Louis Cardinals with the 39th pick of the 2008 MLB draft after pitching successfully at the University of Mississippi. The veteran starting pitcher has played for the Cardinals, the Minnesota Twins, the New York Yankees, the Texas Rangers, and the Chicago White Sox.

On June 2, 2011, Lynn made his big league debut with the Cardinals as a starter against the San Francisco Giants. He tossed 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts but allowed five hits and five runs, having his first loss. On June 9, he started his second game, giving up six hits, only one run, and fanning three to pick up his first career victory in the Cardinals' 9-2 win over the Houston Astros. Wander Franco, at 16, signed with the Rays to a minor league contract to chase the American dream on July 2, 2017. Franco had been highly expected with high performance since marking .351 in 2017.

Franco sensationally made his big league debut at 20 against the Boston Red Sox on June 22, 2021. He appeared in the game as a starting third baseman, batting second, going 2 for 4 with a game-tying three-run home run for the first homer, hit of his career, and a double. Franco had reached base safely in 43 straight games, good for a tie with Frank Robinson in 1956 for the longest all-time by a player 20 years old or younger. He slashed .283/.347/.463 with seven homers and 39 RBIs in his first year.

On April 22, 2022, against the Red Sox, the switch-hitting infielder delivered two homers for the first multi-homer game of his career. With the improvement of his fastball command, he will have a high chance of winning double-digit games for the Yanks in 2023. However, Montas seemed to struggle to a 6.35 ERA in eight starts for the Yanks in 2022 due to shoulder inflammation. He could miss the first month of the 2023 season. I hope he can recover it completely."

Frankie Montas originally signed with
the Boston Red Sox on December 14, 2009. He was traded by the Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox in a three-team deal with the Detroit Tigers on July 31, 2013.

The right-hander made his big league debut with the White Sox against the Minnesota Twins on September 2, 2015, tossing one scoreless inning in relief with a strikeout. "Altuve would be the greatest treasure in MLB, with top-level skills in hitting, defense, running, and everything else necessary for a baseball player. He is a slugger who can hit a long ball with a bullet liner and a high batting average, handling the head part of the bat effectively.

His average in his 12 big league seasons has been over .300 with three-time batting champion, four-time 200-hit season, five-time 20-homer season, two-time 30-homer season, 6th straight 30-stolen base season. He also makes a fielding gem but sticks to the basics.

Altuve was named the 2017 AL MVP and helped the Astros win their first World Champ. The slugger is still 32. One of the best blessings is to see the great player still."

Because Jose Altuve was short(5' 6''), it is said that the Astros initially didn't intend to contract with him. But they finally signed him in 2006, considering his skill.

Altuve was called up by the Astros to the major league for the first time on July 19, 2011, and debuted against the Washington Nationals at Minute Maid park the following day. He started the game as a second baseman and batting second, going 1 for 4 with the first career hit(single to the right) off right-hander Tyler Clippard. On August 20 against the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the first, Altuve, as a lead-off hitter, hit an inside-the-park home run on a fly ball to left-center field for the first of his career facing lefty Madison Bumgarner. Eddie Rosario was picked by the Minnesota Twins with the 135th overall selection of the fourth round of the 2010 MLB draft.

On May 6, 2015, Rosario made his major league debut against the Oakland Athletics, starting in the right field and batting eighth. On his first plate and the first pitch he saw, he hit a solo homer for the first hit and RBI of his career to left-center field to put on the board in the third off left-hander Scott Kazmir in a 13-0 Twins win. He excellently batted .267 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, and the American League-leading 15 triples in his first year, appearing in 122 games.

On June 13, 2017, the left-handed had a magical day. Rosario went 3-for-5 with three homers, five RBIs, and three runs in a 20-7 wipe-out over the Seattle Mariners, in which Minnesota set a new franchise record for 28 hits. In his first multi-homer game, he became the seventh Twin to smash three home runs and the fifth player to deliver three homers in a match from the No.9 hole. Appearing in his career, most 151 contests, he slashed .290/.328./507 with 27 long balls and 78 RBIs in 2017. On June 14, 2015, Lindor made his major league debut against the Detroit Tigers, appearing as a pinch hitter to replace DH David Murphy in the seventh and striking out swinging off Lefty Blaine Hardy. Lindor, however, produced a sharp single to the right for the first of his career on his second plate in the 9th, facing righty Joakim Soria. He finished his first season with .313, 12 homers, and 51 RBIs in 99 games.

In 2016, the skillful infielder had a magical season. Across 158 contests, he excellently slashed .301/.358./435 with 15 long balls and 78 RBIs, naming his first All-Star, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger as a shortstop. In the postseason, with a batting average of .310, he helped Cleveland advance to the World Series, but the team lost to the Chicago Cubs. In the 2023 season, the Korean star returned to his old team, the KIA Tigers in Korea Baseball Organization, winning 12 games. Although he mainly throws fastballs, now that he has become a veteran, the lefty often mixes in a changeup, slider, and curveball to retire batters effectively. With his career 159 wins, the most among active players in KBO, Yang is chasing Song Jin-woo's 210 wins, the most in KBO history."

■Story;
Hyeon-Jong Yang made a figure as a high school player as he threw well for South Korea in the 2006 World Junior Championship to lift the team to the Gold medal. 

The KIA Tigers drafted Yang in the first round of the 2006 KBO draft. In 2007, he made his professional debut with the KIA, going 1-2 with a 4.17 ERA in 31 outings as a relief pitcher. After pitching as a reliever in 2008, he joined the KIA's starting rotation in 2009 and excellently notched 12-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 29 appearances. 

In 2009, the left-hander recorded 16-8 with a 4.25 ERA but struggled to command with his BB/9 of 5.21. Since then, although the star lefty suffered an injury, he became KIA's ace, whose pitching records often ranked highly, including an ERA leader in 2015 and 2019 and a winning leader in 2017. After collecting 147 victories in KBO, he went to America as a free agent to take the mound for the Texas Rangers in Major League before the 2021 season. 

The Korean lefty made his big league debut on April 26, 2021, working 4 1/3 frames of relief and allowing two runs in Texas' 9-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field. On May 5, having his first start against the Minnesota Twins, Yang tossed 3 1/3 innings on four hits and one earned run and racked up eight strikeouts to help the Rangers' 3-1 win. He finished the 2021 season with 0-3 with a 5.60 ERA in 12 contests with four starts. 

The 34-year-old Korean starter returned to Korea after the 2021 campaign and signed a four-year contract with his old KIA team. In 2022, he was 12-7 with a 3.85 over 30 starts.

After the influence of right arm flexor surgery for about two years, he healthily played in 2022, winning double-digit games(12) for the first time since becoming a wins leader with 18 wins. Although Mikolas does not strike out a lot, he can get a strikeout according to the situation, mixing mainly two fastballs and two breaking balls. The righty will be expected as a starter to keep the team in a game solidly."

Mikolas was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the 204th overall pick in the 7th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He has played for the Padres, Texas Rangers, and the Cardinals in MLB.

The right-hander made his big-league debut against the Miami Marlins on May 5, 2012. He took the mound in the ninth, giving up a solo homer, and striking out two. Mikolas pitched 25 times as a starter, notching 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA and 23 strikeouts in his first year.

On July 2, 2014, the 34-year-old righty made his Rangers debut, in which he tossed 5 1/3 frames on three hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts in a 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. He, however, picked up his first Ranger win on July 21, 2014, giving up four hits and two runs and fanning three across 7 1/3 innings in a 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees.

Mikolas played for the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan from 2015 to 2017. He successfully recorded 31-13 with a 2.18 ERA and 378 strikeouts over 424.2 innings in 62 contests, becoming a strikeouts leader with 187 in 2017.

After the 2017 season, he returned to Major League to have a contract with the Cardinals and marked 18-4 with a 2.83 ERA in 32 starts to lead the National League in wins in his first St.Louis year of 2018. His sharp curveball with a high spin is effective as both a ball to get ahead of a batter and a finishing pitch with over 30% of his K% and Whiff% in 2022. The curveballs and 4-seamer of five arsenals accounted for over 60% of all his pitches in 2022, as each opponent's batting average was in the 10% range, using the combination of the two very well. His skillful pitching is worth seeing. In 2023 and beyond, Lugo will play for the Padres to aim at the World Champ."

The New York Mets selected Lugo with the 1032nd overall pick in the 34th round of the 2011 MLB draft.

Lugo was promoted to the major on June 30, 2016, and made his big league debut the following day. He pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning on two hits with two strikeouts in a 10-2 Mets win over the Chicago Cubs. His first career strikeout was from Anthony Rizzo. On August 25, the righty started the game versus the St.Louis Cardinals, allowing just two hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five frames to pick up his first career victory in a 10-6 win. Lugo notched 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA and 45 strikeouts across 17 games, including eight starts in his first season.

The 33-year-old right-hander threw very well for Team Puerto Rico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic before the regular season. Lugo, however, missed the first two months due to elbow inflammation. In 2022, Lugo took the mound as the fourth of five pitchers to combine for a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in New York. He hit his first career home run off Boone Logan to decide a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Corolad Rockies in the 12th at Coors Field in Denver. Baez was just the 12th Cub to hit a home run in his first big league since 1914. Baez finished his first season with .169, nine homers, and 20 RBIs, appearing in 52 contests as a shortstop and second baseman.

After notching .289 in 28 games in 2015 and .273 in 142 games in 2016, the right-handed hitter successfully stole home to give the Cubs a 3-0 lead in the 2nd in his team's 8-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League(NL) Championship Series on October 15, 2016. He became the first franchise player to steal home in a postseason game in 109 years since Jimmy Slagle in Game of the World Series in 1907.

In 2018, the 30-year-old player brilliantly slashed .290/.326/554 with 34 long balls and 111 RBI across his career-most 160 games, leading the NL in RBIs and winning the NL Silver Slugger Award.

The young right-hander made his Major League debut as a starter on June 30, 2018. He pitched six innings, allowing six hits and two runs to earn his first win in the Marlins' 5-2 comeback victory over the New York Mets.
