エリック・ソガード選手は、アリゾナ州立大学でプレーした後、2007年のMLBドラフト2巡目、全体81位でサンディエゴ・パドレスに指名された。これまでにMLBではオークランド・アスレチックス、ミルウォーキー・ブリュワーズ、トロント・ブルージェイズ、タンパベイ・レイズ、シカゴ・カブスでプレーした。

オークランドでメジャーリーグデビューを果たした2010年は、4試合に出場し、7打数3安打だった。2013年にはアスレチックスの正二塁手として活躍。130試合に出場して打率.266、2本塁打、35打点、10盗塁の成績を収めた。2017年はブリュワーズとして主に二塁手のほか、遊撃手、三塁手、左翼手で94試合に出場し、打率.273、3本塁打、18打点を記録した。2019年はブルージェイズとレイズでプレーし、キャリアハイの打率.290、13本塁打、40打点をマーク。2020年にブリュワーズ、2021年にカブスでプレーした後、フリーエージェントとなった。

Eric Sogard was taken by the San Diego Padres with the 81st overall selection in the second round of the 2007 MLB draft after playing at Arizona States University. Sogard has played for the Padres' affiliates, the Oakland Athletics, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago Cubs.

In 2010, Sogard's big league debut year with Oakland, he appeared in four games, going 3 for 7. In 2013, the utility player played a daily second baseman for the Athletics, finishing at .266 with two homers, 35 RBIs, and ten stolen bases in 130 contests.

In 2017, the 36-year-old appeared in 94 games as a Brewer, primarily at second base with shortstop, third baseman, and left fielder, batting .273 with three long balls and 18 RBIs. In 2019, the good contact hitter played for the Blue Jays and Rays, marking a combined batting average of .290 with 13 home runs and 40 RBIs. He became a free agent after playing for the Brewers in 2020 and the Cubs in 2021.

Today's player's resume concerns the Czech two-way star Martin Schneider and a former minor league catcher, Martin Cervenka. They can be critical players for the first-time participants, Team Czech, in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.


Czech beat Spain 3-1 in the last match at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg, Germany, on September 21st, 2022, to clinch its spot in the following spring's World Baseball Classic.


Martin Schneider is 36 years old and also a firefighter. He has played for 19 seasons in the Czech Baseball League. He is one of the most notable two-way players in the league who has been 73-22 with a 2.46 ERA across 153 games covering 702.9 innings, having struck out 617 batters at the end of the 2022 season. As a shortstop, he has hit .353 with 64 home runs, 413 RBIs, and 195 stolen bases through 577 contests.


On September 21st, as a pitcher, he walked none and allowed five hits and one earned run, fanning five over six innings against Spain to lead Czech to a 3-1 win to qualify for the Classic.

He signed the Cleveland Indians to a minor league contract on June 19th, 2011, and has played for the Triple-A of the Baltimore Orioles' affiliates in 2019 and the New York Mets in 2021. He has batted.235 with 43 homers and 259 RBIs in 617 minor league games in his ten seasons.
