■Story
Jean Segura signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2007 and recorded a high batting average at each level in the minors before his MLB debut on July 24, 2012. He moved to Milwaukee after having a game as an Angel and marked .264 with 14 homers and seven stolen bases in his first major league year. In 2014, the Brewers placed him on bereavement on July 12 because of the sudden death of his nine-month-old son Janniel in his own country. Segura returned to the team on July 17.

In 2016, the right-handed hitter had one of the best campaigns with the Diamondbacks over a career-most 153 outings. His slash line was .319/.368/.499 with 11 long balls and 64 RBIs and stolen 33 bases, leading the National League in hits with 203. The batting average of .319 was a career-high, ranked fifth in the NL

In two seasons, 2017 and 2018, with the Mariners, the Dominican native batted higher than .300 and had 42 stolen bases. Segura was named his second All-Star after 2013. He produced 136 singles, the most in the American League in 2018.

The two-time All-Star played for the Phillies in the next four seasons, appearing in 427 contests with .281/.337./418, 43 RBIs, and 176 RBI, primely as a shortstop and second baseman. In 2022, Segura went 12 for 56 in the four postseason series, experiencing his first World Series.
