Former Blue Jays Star Tony Fernandez Dead at 57
元ブルージェイズのスター、トニー・フェルナンデス氏が死去

Former Toronto Blue Jays star, Tony Fernandez dead of kindness disease and cerebral apoplexy at the age of 57. Hector Gomez of Z 101 reported on February 15, Saturday local time. 

Fernandez was an infielder, mainly as a shortstop, playing 17 seasons in Major League and a season in Japan. The great infielder played with the Blue Joys for 12 seasons. He earned five-time All-Star Game nomination, four-time Gold Glove as a shortstop, and won the 1993 World Series with the Blue Joys. 

He played only a season with the Seibu Lions of NPB in Japan and went .327 which was the 4th-best in Pacific League. 

The Notable player had .288 with 2276 hits, 844 RBIs, and 94 homers throughout his major career. Also, his WAR is now the franchise’s record. 

I am so sorry to hear this sad news for his family, friends, and fans, who have this difficult time.
I pray from the bottom of my heart that his soul rests in peace. 

元ブルージェイズのスター、トニー・フェルナンデス氏が死去

ブルージェイズのスタープレーヤーだったトニー・フェルナンデス氏が、現地時間２月１５日（土）に、腎臓病と脳卒中のため、亡くなった。５７歳だった。ドミニカ共和国のZ１０１のヘクター・ゴメス氏が伝えた。

フェルナンデス氏は、メジャーで１７シーズン、日本で１シーズンプレーした内野手。主に遊撃手が多かった。ブルージェイズでは１２シーズンプレーした。ブルージェイズ時代に、オールスターに５回選出され、ゴールドグラブ賞を４度獲得し、１９９３年にはトロントでワールドチャンピオンに輝いた。

１９９９年には、１年間だけ日本プロ野球の西武ライオンズで主に三塁手としてプレーし、パシフィックリーグ４位となる打率.327を記録し活躍した。

メジャー通算成績は、２１５８試合に出場し、打率.２８８、２２７６安打、８４４打点、９４本塁打の成績を残した。また、野手としては、彼のWARはブルージェイズ球団歴代１位を記録している。
