Japanese-born pitchers earn 1,000 wins with Darvish's Victory

San Diego Padres righty Yu Darvish had his 12th win with a combined total of 3,000 strikeouts in Japan and America on September 2nd in Los Angeles. Congratulations. Also, his victory means No.1,000 win by Japanese pitchers in MLB history. Congratulations. So, today's topic is a short story about Japan-born Major League pitchers.

Yu Darvish pitched very well on September 2nd against the Dodgers. 
He gave up only two hits and no run in seven innings to beat the Dodgers. 
Darvish had the No.12th win of the season and became the second Japan-born Major Leaguer to have more than 3,000 strikeouts since Hideo Nomo. With his victory, the number of wins by the Japanese pitchers reached 3,000th in the big league.

This graph shows the top 20 Japanese Major Leaguers who had the most wins. Do you know the top 3 players? The third is Hiroki Kuroda, who played for the Dodgers from 2008 to 2011 and the Yankees from 2012 to 2014. The second is Yu Darvish, who joined Major League in 2012 and played for the Rangers, Dodgers, and Cubs. Now he is playing for the San Diego Padres. No.1 is Hideo Nomo. He started his big league career with the Dodgers in 1995 and then played for the Mets, Brewers, Tigers, Red Sox, Dodgers, Rays, and Royals.  

Let's watch these three pitchers a little bit. 

Hiroki Kuroda used a four-seam fastball, splitter, and slider very well. Yu Darvish skillfully handles various breaking balls. Hideo Nomo was good at a solid four-seam fastball and splitter that dropped largely with his tornado pitching.
