Major Leaguer resume Vol.52: Willians Astudillo (Former Miami Marilins’ utility):“9-way utility player!”

Today's player's resume is a 9-way major leaguer, Willians Astudillo. He will play for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in Japan in 2023.

He would be well-suited to Japanese baseball."

Willians Astudillo is from Venezuela and had a minor-league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009. After playing for affiliates of the Phillies, the Atlanta Braves, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Minnesota Twins, he made his big-league debut against the Chicago Cubs as a defensive replacement for the Twins in the fifth inning on June 30th, 2018. He hit a single for his career first in the sixth inning.

The 31-year-old player is a great utility who has taken all positions, excluding shortstop, in his major career. The right-handed batter is a good contact hitter who has had only 28 strikeouts for 588 plate appearances.

Willians Astudillo marked 267 with 16 long balls and 70 RBIs in his major league career at the end of the 2022 season.
