Major Leaguer resume Vol.53WBC Player’s resume Vol.39: Seiya Suzuki (Chicago Cubs):Major Candidate for Team Japan:“SAMURAI JAPAN’s best-balanced slugger!”

Today's player's resume concerns the Chicago Cubs' outfielder, Seiya Suzuki. Suzuki has announced his intention to join Team Japan in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The KAISPO's baseball analyst said,
"Seiya Suzuki is a No.1 Japanese-born hitter who is a slugger for Team Japan. He can hit a long ball and mark a high batting average. Also, Suzuki is a strong-armed and good defensive outfielder. He is best balanced for a baseball player. Seiya adjusted his batting timing, moving his left foot to handle major leaguer's fastballs. Although he missed many games with his left-hand injury in 2022, he will perform well in 2023 without any damage. "

Seiya Suzuki signed the Chicago Cubs through the posting system in March 2022 after playing in Japanese professional baseball, NPB, for nine seasons. Suzuki made his major league debut in an opening game of the 2022 season against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 7th, 2022. He started the game as a right fielder, batting sixth, and went 1-for-2 with his first big league hit(a single to the left) and a pair of walks.

The 28-year-old right-handed hitter injured the finger on his left hand while sliding into second base on May 26th against the Cincinnati Reds after he batted .245 with four homers and 21 RBIs in 45 games. The Cubs placed Suzuki on the injured list, and he returned to the team on July 4th after missing about a month because of rehabilitation and rehab games with the Iowa Cubs. Suzuki finished his first major league season with .262, 14 home runs, and 46 RBIs in 111 contests.
