Major Leaguer resume Vol.74/ WBC Player’s resume Vol.60: Carlos Correa (Minnesota Twins) : Major Candidate for Team Puerto Rico: “Good glove-handling & accurate throwing !”

Story:
Today's player's resume concerns the Minnesota Twins' star shortstop, Carlos Correa. Correa is a Puerto Rican-born player and will join Team Puerto Rico in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The KAISPO's baseball analyst commented,
"Correa was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft. He is now one of the leading five-tool players in the Major. A sharp swing with a quick hip rotation characterizes his hitting. Correa has hit 15+ homers every year since his debut, except in 2020, the pandemic-shortened season. As a shortstop, he has a good sense of the direction of a batted ball and can skillfully handle a glove to catch a ball. Correa signed a 6-year contract with the Twins. He will continue to attract fans with his sensational performance. "

Carlos Correa was drafted by the Houston Astros with the 1st overall selection in the 1st round of the 2012 MLB draft.

In about three years, Correa made his big league debut against the Chicago White Sox on June 8th. He started the game as a shortstop and batting sixth, going 1-for-3 with his first career hit with an RBI(an infield single to shortstop) off lefty Chris Sale. The following day, he hammered the first homer of his career with two RBIs off left-hander Zach Duke in a 2-4 loss over the White Sox.
Correa finished his first season with an excellent .274/.345/.512 line, 22 long balls, and 68 RBIs in 99 contests as a regular shortstop to win the American League Rookie of the Year.

After his rookie season, the five-tool player built the golden area of the Astros as a leading player. Especially in 2017, Correa recorded his career-best batting average of .315, 24 home runs, and 84 RBIs to lift his team to their first World Series title, acquiring his first Gold Glove Award.

The right-handed hitter joined the Minnesota Twins in March 2022 after choosing a free agent in the 2021 off-season. Correa showed solid performance with a slash line of .291/.366/.467, 22 homers, and 64 RBIs in his first Twins' season.

The two-time All-Star has notched .279 with 155 home runs, 553 RBIs, and 33 stolen bases in 888 games in his eight big league seasons at the end of the 2022 season.
