Ohtani Could Change Everything This Season
大谷選手は今季全てを変えることができる

MLB.com  is introducing nine players who could change everything. They would mean that the players have strong impacts on their teams and Major League. One of the players is Shohei Ohatni of the Angels.

“He may just be the most interesting player in the game. After not pitching in 2019 while recovering from Tommy John surgery (while still posting an .848 OPS), he'll begin Spring Training preparing to be a member of the Angels' rotation as well as a designated hitter contributing in the middle of the order. With Anthony Rendon now in the fold along with Mike Trout, if we get the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year Award-winning version of Ohtani, this is a contender.”

The Two-way star has his third season this year. He underwent Tommy John Surgery his first off-season of 2018 and took a surgery to repair a bipartite Patella his second off-season of 2019. Unfortunately, Ohtani went through those surgeries for two years in a row. But, he is restarting the two-way from this season. 

After his joining of the team, their manager has been replaced every year. They have not been utilizing the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) about the two-way system. Joe Maddon, who used to be the Angel skipper, manages the club since this season. Maddon is strongly-motivated toward a historical two-way star.

Although Ohtani’s rehabilitation went well, if he begins two-way just from an opening game will depend on his condition in Spring Training. 

I am not sure about how Maddon makes him play as the two-way. But, I would like him to spend the whole season without any injury.

今季で大谷選手はメジャー3年目を迎える。1年目のオフにトミージョン手術をし、2年目のオフにも左膝蓋骨の手術をするなど、手術続きだった。しかし、今シーズンから改めて本格的に二刀流を復活させることになる。

現状、監督は一年おきに変わっているため、PDCAを回し切れていないのが現状だろう。今季から過去にもエンジェルスの指揮をとったジョー・マドン氏が就任。メジャーの歴史的二刀流選手の起用にも意欲的だ。

トミージョン手術からのリハビリは順調だが、開幕から二刀流をスタートさせるかは春季キャンプの状態次第だろう。

二刀流をどういう形で起用していくかは現段階では不透明だが、今季は怪我のないシーズンを送って欲しい。
