Ohtani’s hitting streak stops at 18 games / 10.4.2022 EST

The second of the season's-closing three-game set between the Oakland Athletics and Los Angles Angels was held at Oakland Coliseum on October 4, EST.

Angels' two-way star, Shohei Ohtani, got the start as a designated hitter, batting third.

Shohei had five at-bats without a hit, and his hitting streak stopped at eighteen games which were the second longest among players born in Japan, only to Ichiro Suzuki. But, there was a hopeful sign for him going homerless in twenty-first straight games that he hit three long liners to the outfield.

On the other hand, my concern for Ohtani is that he took a pitch on his right arm in his second at-bat and bent over in pain. Although the pitching effect was worried, he smiled on first base and continued to come to bat.

The two-way star will take the mound in the season's final game to aim for his sixteenth victory and reach the required innings pitched with one more inning on October 5, EST.

　今シーズン最後の３連戦となるオークランド・アスレチックス対ロサンゼルス・エンゼルスの２戦目がアスレチックスの本拠地、オークランドコロシアムで行われた。エンゼルスの二刀流スターの大谷翔平選手は３番指名打者で先発出場した。

　心配な要素もあった。第二打席で右腕に死球を受け、痛みで疼くまるシーンがあった。ピッチングへの影響も心配されるところだったが、一塁上で笑顔を見せ、その後の打席にも立ち続けた。
