Red Sox’ Managerial Candidate Is Former Soccer Player

The Boston Red Sox has been waiting for an investigational result by the MLB about a sign-cheating scandal and they have continued to look for a new manager to replace Alex Cora, who mutually passed ways.

They have several internal candidates as KAISPO-MLB introduced before.

But, there is a possibility that the managerial selection will be affected by the MLB investigation.
The latest development is that Boston interviewed with the Arizona Diamondbacks bench coach, Luis Urueta by phone on January 31, Friday. ESPN reported.

Luis Urueta is now 39 years old and had never played in Major. He has been the D-back bench coach since 2018 and has the experience to be a coach of his native Colombia in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. The 39-year-old managed a team in the Dominican winter ball league. And, It is interesting to note that he used to a soccer player before making a career change to baseball.

Spring Training will open across Arizona and Florida in less than two weeks. Only the Red Sox haven't hired their manager. Boston has been paid attention to how to solve their problems including the result of the MLB investigation and managerial one.

最新の情報では、アリゾナ・ダイアモンドバックスのベンチコーチ、ルイス・ウルエタ氏と金曜日に電話でインタビューを行ったと言うことだ。ESPNが伝えている。

ルイス・ウルエタ氏は、39歳で、ウルエタ氏は選手としてはメジャー経験はないものの、2018年からダイアモンドバックスのベンチコーチを務めている。2017年のワールドベースボールクラシックでは母国コロンビアチームのコーチを務めた経験もある。また、ドミニカウィンターリーグのチームを指揮したこともある。また彼のキャリアは野球だけでない。1997年に野球にキャリアを切り替える前までは、サッカー選手だったと言う。

スプリング・トレーニングまで、2週間切る中で、レッドソックスだけが監督が決まっていない。MLBによる調査結果も含めて、監督問題がどのように決着するのか注目が続く。
