Today I'm introducing the Toronto Blue Jays' starting righty, Jose Berrios, who will be committed to Team Puerto Rico at next spring's World Baseball Classic.

The Puerto Rican righty was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft.

Berrios made his major league debut in 2016.

In 2017, his second career season, he entered the starting rotation and marked 14 -8 with a 3.89 ERA over 26 games to help the Twins clinch a playoff spot.

In 2018, the 28-year-old Puerto Rican recorded 12-11 with a 3.84 ERA across 32 starts, fanning 202. He was selected to the American League squad for the first time in his career and tossed a scoreless inning to pick up a hold at Nationals Park in the All-Star game.

In 2019, Berrios made his first career Opening Day start as the leader of Minnesota's rotation with ten strikeouts over 7 2/3 scoreless innings, giving his team a 2-0 victory against Cleveland. He was named to his second All-Star Game and finished the season with 14-8 and a 3.68 ERA.

In 2020, the pandemic-shortened season, the 2-time All-Star had 5-4 with a 4.00 ERA in his starts.

In July 2021, His current club, the Tronto Blue Jays, acquired him from the Twins in exchange for two top prospects. He collected 12 wins, including 7 for the Twins and 5 for the Blue Jays with a 3.52 in 32 games.

In 2022, Berrios had his fifth single-season two-digit win with 12-7 with a 5.23 ERA. However, his ERA and opponent's batting average(OBA) of .288 was high because the difference between his good and bad conditions could be extreme.

KAISPO baseball analyst says,
"Berrios can pitch a big curveball and sinker by using his lithe body, adding a sharpness concentrately when the center of gravity shifts to his left leg smoothly. So batters should feel difficulty because his pitching form is not robust."
