The 2023 WBC Star player Vol.18:German Marquez’s movie resume for Venezuela, “Strong and fast breaking balls”

Today's player's resume concerns German Marquez, the Colorado Rockies' starting righty, who intends to join Team Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Marquez signed with the Tampa Bay Rays as a professional baseball player in 2011 and was traded to the Colorado Rockies in 2016. He was promoted to Major League from the minor and made his big league debut in September.

In 2017, the 27-year-old pitcher had his first entire season and tossed in 29 games with 11-7 and a 4.39 ERA.

He won the National League Silver Slugger Award in 2018, and the righty started his first opening game in 2019. In 2021 he was named his first National League All-Star.

The Venezuelan pitcher has gone 63-54 with a 4.40 ERA and 966 strikeouts over 172 contests in his seven career seasons.
