The 2023 WBC Star player’s movie resume Vol.29:Kike Hernandez (Boston Red Sox):Major Candidate for Team Puerto Rico:“Caribbean all-rounder”

Today's player's resume concerns the Boston Red Sox's utility player, Kike Hernandez. Kike has announced his intention to play for Team Puerto Rico in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Kike was selected by the Houston Astros with the 191st overall pick in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB draft. He has played for the Astros, Miami Marlins, and Los Angeles Dodgers and has played for the Boston Red Sox since 2021.

He made his major league debut with the Astros against the Seattle Mariners on July 1st, 2014, hitting his first career two hits, including a double.

In 2015, the 31-year-old player posted a .307/.346/.490 slash line in 76 games for the Dodgers. In 2018, he slashed .256/.336/.470 with 21 homers and 52 RBIs, appearing in 145 contests for most of his career. In 2019, the utility player earned his career-high 62 RBIs.


In his big league career, the right-handed hitter has hit .239 with 97 long balls and 332 RBIs in 917 games at the end of the 2022 season.
