The 2023 WBC Star player’s movie resume Vol.38: Tzu-Wai Lin (New York Mets’ affiliate):Major Candidate for Team Taiwan(Chinese Taipei):“Strong hitter in international events!”

Today's player's resume concerns Tzu-Wai Lin, belonging to the New York Mets' affiliate. Lin, 28, is a Taiwanese-born player and will join Team Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The KAISPO baseball analyst commented,
"Lin is a good contact hitter who won many individual titles in high school, helping Taiwan rank higher in international tournaments. He is a strong player in short-term international events, as he marked 8-for-16 with 6 RBIs and 6 runs at the 2015 Asian Baseball Championship.
Lin must also focus on a batting average and OBP to move to the major again."

Lin had a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox on June 16th, 2012. His MLB debut came as a pinch-runner for Christian Vazquez for Boston, facing the Los Angeles Angels on June 24th, 2017. He played in 25 contests, hitting .268 with 2 RBIs on his first major league year. In 2018, he batted .246 with one homer and 6 RBIs, appearing in 37 games. Boston won the World Series title that year. He, however, couldn't join the postseason roster of the Red Sox. He signed the New York Mets to a minor-league contract in March 2022 after playing for the Minnesota Twins' affiliates in 2021.

He has appeared in 102 games, having recorded .223 with one long ball and 12 RBIs in his big league career and having hit .245 with 25 home runs and 242 RBIs through 671 games in his minor league career at the end of the 2023 season.

The utility player has joined the Taiwan National team in international baseball championships from U18. In the 2009 World Youth Championship, Lin amazingly hit .519/.594/.704 with 6 RBIs across seven games. In the 2010 World Junior Championship, he slashed .607/.656./929 with 12 runs and 11 RBIs through seven games to lift Taiwan to the title, receiving the Best Defensive Player, All-Star third baseman, and MVP. He marked .476 with two homers and 7 RBIs across five contests to win an All-Star outfielder in the 2021 Asian Junior Championship. Lin was named his second Best Defensive player with a .977 fielding percentage in the 2012 World Junior Championship. After becoming a professional player, he had 8-for-16 with six runs and six RBIs in five games in the 2015 Asian Championship.
