1/3/2020 0 Comments The Three-Batter minimus rule【⚾️ #MLB X KAISPO 💫】No.66 ⭐️KAISPO Total No. #1029(in English & Japanese) 1/3/2020 MLB.com has announced “20 bold predictions for 2020.” One of them is the three batter minimum rule, meaning an abolition of the one-point relief. Relievers must pitch to at least three batters. According to the site, “It’s arguably the biggest rule change since the advent of the designated hitter“, “It impacts decision-making for every team in virtually every game” and “There will be an instance or three in which a manager gets burned by an unfavorite lefty-righty matchup that he could have avoided under the old rules.” Also, the site is saying, “The one- and two-batter relief appearances covered by this rule have been on the decline in recent seasons.” As a conclusion, the site is closing, “On the whole, the rule is not likely to meaningfully alter the course of the season.” I think the new rule will probably be for time saving. I am not sure how much time one point relieves has had an influence on games. I would like the MLB to show its evidence. A manager usually decides which reliever is better, depending on a congeniality between batters and him or if the batter is right-handed or left-handed or the trend and point of a game. The manager, therefore, would make who could retire next three batters relieve. The Manager and relievers would just prepare for that. For example, relievers may master types or control of the ball woking regardless of left-handed and right-handed batter. Also, they may change the combination of their pitches. By the new rule, a merit of the manager can be to make a game finish by few pitchers. There were not many games in which one point reliever took the mound when I watched MLB. I feel that there are many games where one reliever throws for one inning in the second half of the game. Anyway, I’d like to verify the effect of the new rule at the end of the season. By HIDE ワンポイントリリーフの廃止について MLB .comが2020年シーズンの20の大胆予測を発表している。 そのうちの一つがワンポイントリリーフの廃止だ。つまり、一度マウンドに上がった投手は、最低3人の打者に投球をしなくていけなくなり、一人の打者だけに投球して退くことはできなくなる。 サイトによると、「全てのチームの全ての試合の意思決定に影響する」「DH(指名打者制)導入以来の野球界での最も大きなルール変更だろう」としている。これまでのルールでは回避できたような対左、対右投手などの避けたい対戦を強いられ、いわゆる「炎上」するケースも出てくるだろうとの予測だ。また一方で、「近年のシーズンでは、1人または2人の打者に投げるリリーフ登板は減少している」とも伝えている。 全体としては、このルール変更によって、シーズンの流れが大きく変わるものではないという主旨で締めている。 恐らく、これは試合時間短縮のためであろうが、どの程度、ワンポイントリリーフによって試合時間が影響を受けているかがわからない。メジャーリーグには、ワンポイントリリーフによる試合の延長時間をどの程度に見ているのかを提示してもらいたいと思う。 その上で、監督は、打者との相性や左右の対戦、試合の流れを見て投手起用をするので、このルール変更によって、少なくとも向こう3人を抑えられる確率の高い投手を起用するようになるのだから、起用する方もされる方もそれを想定した準備をするだけだろう。 例えば、投手サイドとしては、右打者・左打者に通用する球種や制球を身に着けたり、相性の悪い打者との勝負では過去の傾向とは違う配球をするなどの対応が必要だろう。また、起用する側とすれば、それにより、若干だが少ない投手で試合を賄うというメリットもあるかも知れない。 実際、私もメジャーの試合を見ていても、記事の通りワンポイントリリーフを目にする機会は多くなく、試合の後半はほぼ1回を一人の投手が投げるというケースが多いように感じる。 いずれにせよ、今季の終わりに改めてこのルールの検証をしてみたい。 By HIDE ⚾️ KAISPO❗️;
