The Big deal Involving 3 Clubs Ultimately Settled
３球団を巻き込んだ大型トレードがついに決着

A big trade involving the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Twins has been agreed with each other. 

Originally Boston wanted to send a former MVP Mookie Betts and Cy Young winner David Price with half of Price’s remaining salary to Los Angeles. Los Angeles was sending outfielder Alex Verdugo and prospects to Boston to which Minnesota was giving a prospect RHP Brusdar Graterol for Los Angeles RHP Kenta Maeda. 

But, the Red Sox showed a strong concern on a medical record about Graterol, who had Tommy John surgery and his shoulder injury by which they claimed that they needed to change him from a starter to a reliever. The Red Sox, therefore, requested to add a top prospect to the Twins. The whole deal became deadlock by that. 

Some media including ESPN, today reported that every club has agreed with each other. You can refer to seeing below my trade map modified. 

Between the Red Sox and the Dodgers, the Dodgers are getting Betts and Price with half of the $96 million on Price’s contract from the Red Sox. The Red Sox are getting outfielder Alex Verdugo, shortstop prospect Jeter Downs and catcher prospect Conner Wong. 

As a separate trade, between the Dodgers and Twins, the Dodgers is sending Kenta Maeda with cash and, maybe, a lower level prospect while the Twins are sending Graterol, who was going to Boston, outfielder prospect Luke Raley, and the 67th pick in this years’ draft. The Dodgers do not seem to care about Graterol’s medical record. 

According to The Athletic, a separate deal between the Dodgers and Angels from the beginning will be canceled by changing the whole plan. 

The Minnesota Twins Maeda is joining, are one of the clubs with strongest hitting power and will be able to win World Series title depending on their bullpen, who is now unstable because some starters have injuries and are aging. Acquiring Maeda makes sense to strengthen their bullpen and to get the title.

レッドソックス、ドジャース、そしてツインズを巻き込んだ大型トレードがようやく決着した。

当初、このトレードは、レッドソックスが過去MVPを獲得したムーキー・ベッツ外野手とサイ・ヤング賞を獲得したデビット・プライス投手とプライス投手の残り契約分の半額分のキャッシュをドジャースに、ドジャースからは、アレックス・ベルドゥーゴ外野手他若手有望選手をレッドソックスに、さらに前田健太投手をツインズに譲渡し、ツインズから若手有望投手のブラスター・グラテロル投手をレッドソックスに放出することを軸として進められていた。

しかし、レッドソックスが、ツインズのグラテロル投手の医療記録にリスクを見出し、先発投手見通しからリリーフに変更せざるを得ないと判断をし、ツインズに対して、更なる若手有望投手を要求するなどして、再交渉となっていた。これによりトレード全体が膠着していた。

本日、ESPNなどアメリカの複数のメディアが最終的に次のようにな形で各球団が合意したことを伝えた。上記のトレードマップ改訂版と合わせて確認してもらいたい。

まず、ドジャースとレッドソックス間において、ドジャースがレッドソックスからベッツ外野手とプライス投手、及びプライス投手の残りのサラリーの半額のキャッシュを獲得する。レッドソックスは、ドジャースからアレックス・ベルドゥーゴ外野手に加え、若手有望株のジーター・ダウンズ遊撃手とコナー・ウォン捕手を獲得する。

そして、ドジャースとツインズ間においては別のトレードとして扱われる。ドジャースは、ツインズから当初、レッドソックスへ譲渡される予定だった、若手有望株のブラスター・グラテロル投手と同じく若手有望株のルーク・ラリー外野手に加え、今年のドラフトにおける６７番目の指名権を獲得する。ドジャースはグラテロル投手の医療記録は気にしない模様だ。一方で、ツインズはドジャースから前田健太投手とキャッシュを獲得する。

尚、The Athleticによると、当初から別のトレードとして進められていた、ドジャースとエンゼルス間においては、ドジャースとレッドソックス間の条件が変更になった影響で、キャンセルとなるようだ。

前田投手の移籍先のツインズは、打撃力がリーグでもトップレベルの一方、先発投手陣が怪我や高齢化するなど手薄のため、前田投手を獲得できた意義は大きい。おそらく、ツインズとしては何としても今季、ワールドチャンピオンを目指す上で、前田投手は獲得しておきたかったはずだ。
